signal to noise ratio, and resonance frequencies where the atoms or electrons begin to absorb and resonate energy. Try to understand the equations of NMR and ESR/EPR to get an understanding of the shapes and frequency ranges that you would be interested in. Staying away from power lines is a good idea.
