521. What do you think of celebrity endorsement- I am not really sure. Sometimes they seem to be careless about what they are supporting, at least in my country. They appear to be only driven by money. For example, a lot of famous sportspeople and artists publicly approved a textbook promising to teach languages within three months without any hard work. As

an English teacher I was offended by this. However, there are some celebrities who are supporting products and services fora good cause. In this case I am pretty positive about them. What are the advantages of advertising- Raises public awareness about a product- Attracts potential customers. How do ads make us buy what we don’t need at all- They attach positive feelings to the products- We don't buy all the products just because we necessarily need the items themselves, but we want to feel the positive ideology the product offers to grant. For example, you may not really need to drive a Rolls Royce, but you want to feel that comfort and sense of belonging to the elite layer of society. How do ads make people buy new products- They contrast the differences and try to convince you that you need to upgrade to stay competitive. They focus on our basic human needs, one of which is the urge to be better than others at least in our own fields. For instance, Apple might say that you need to buy iphone 14 because we have added action mode so that your videos will be more stable than your competitors. How does marketing make people choose particular brands and goods- Well, marketing is a quite complex campaign which involves multiple fields ranging from human psychology to sociology and demographic trends. They conduct extensive market research and presumably obtain all the data about our needs, preferences in terms of colour, shape and smell. They try to identify our values. Using all this data they try to align the image of a certain product to ours, which probably boosts its sales.
