Description
The existing channel-culvert was designed for a 25-year storm event and constructed in the
1960’s. The proposed project consists of making improvements to this hydraulically deficient
channel to convey a 100-yr storm event without overtopping. The proposed design is a reinforced
Reinforced concrete rectangular channel with wall heights ranging from 6 ft to 11 ft high.
The width is 26 ft throughout the 3,800-ft long reach. Three roadway under crossings will be
improved; two of which will maintain the existing cell (Carnegie Ave, Palos Verdes Ave).
The additional RCB’s are 4.75-ft wide by 7-ft high on both sides of the existing structure.
The last Undercrossing, Edinger Ave, will be removed and completely improved to a
double barrel 14’x6.75’ RCB.
