SECTION 1-GENERAL




What is a Disaster?

                  1. A loss of local exchange, or major cable cut.

                  1. (IE: entrance cable, extended outage of over 500 customers).



                  1. A major community disaster (IE: Flood, Earthquake, etc.)

Any of the above could have a negative impact on the community in reaching:

Hospitals

Doctors


Police

Fire


Ambulance

Emergency Squad

Electric Company

Gas Company


DISASTER CONTINGENCY PROCEDURE:

                  1. Management will evaluate the emergency.

2. Establish a command center at the most beneficial location to coordinate



Restoration.


                  1. Implement restoration procedures.



                  1. Notify local media of affected area (See Section 8).



                  1. Establish temporary phone service, which will remain active until enough local service is restored to give people adequate service coverage.



                  1. Identify and restore T-CXR spans.



                  1. Identify and restore the largest block of customer’s possible.



                  1. Manually activate trunk group blocking of required groups.



                  1. Inform management and media of progress (See Section 10).

SECTION 3-BOMB THREAT

BOMB THREAT PROCEDURES

IF YOU RECEIVE A BOMB THREAT CALL:


                  1. Signal a supervisor or co-worker that you have a bomb threat on the line.



                  1. Notify switchman – Supervisor or Co-Worker should notify switchman.



                  1. Notify police – immediately have a Supervisor or Co-Worker contact the local police agency.



                  1. Carefully listen for details – Write down the exact words of caller if possible.



                  1. Secure a trace –

                  1. Hang phone up after receiving call.

                  1. Lift receiver and listen for dial tone.

                  1. Dial *57 and listen for announcement.




                  1. Relay details of the bomb threat to the highest available authority.



                  1. Evaluate the facts – any employee can make the decision to evacuate the building if immediate action is necessary. Use the paging system, identify yourself and inform all people that there is a bomb threat and they should evacuate the building immediately.



                  1. EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN – INTRA-COMPANY – Refer to plan for evacuation procedures (see Section 10).



                  1. AS SOON AS POSSIBLE FILL OUT THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONNAIRE TO AID THE AUTHORITIES IN THEIR INVESTIGATION.
