5 DISCUSSION A recent study has already found that excessive time spent on social media leads to depression. (Igor pantic, 2012). In this study, there is an association between time spent on social media and the number of social networking sites. Day by day consumption of media negatively
affects the children, preteens, and adolescents by making them increasingly inclined to depression, anxiety,
and other mental issues, just as making them progressively defenseless to future medical issues. (APA, 2011). In this study, the result shows that there is an association between usage of social media and the number of social networking sites. What we found overall is that if you useless social media, you are actually
less depressed and less lonely, meaning that the decreased social media use is what causes that qualitative shift in your well- being (Jordyn Young, 2018). In this study it was found that there was a difference between number of social networking sites and symptoms of depression. Excessive use of SNS can lead to heightened depression, anxiety, distress,
unhappiness, and dissatisfaction with life, thus deteriorating mental health.
(Suryakant C. Deogade, 2018. Primack et al., 2017. Shensa et al., 2017.) In this study, it was found that there is a relationship between symptoms of anxiety and symptoms of depression. And also there is a relationship between feeling anxious and serious active on social networking sites than in real life.
