The four wheel chassis consists of following major assemblies:-

Engine is the source of power for automobile which converts chemical energy of fuel into mechanical energy.

Clutch clutch is mechanism which is used to connect and disconnect the engine with road wheels.

Gear box It enables the driver to vary the torque as well as speed ratio.

Propeller Shaft this is a long tubular shaft use to transmit the power from gear box to differential when they are situated apart.

Differential function of differential is to transmit relative motions between the wheels and while taking turns or cornering.

Axle Axle are used either to support or to transmit the power to wheels.

Suspensions function of suspension is to absorb the road shock being transmit to motor vehicle.

Brakes brakes are used to stop or slow down the motor vehicle.

Wheels wheels provide grip to the road and absorb shocks caused by small road irregularities.
