Layout of conventional chassis
The four wheel chassis consists of following major assemblies:-
Engine is the source of power for automobile which converts chemical energy of fuel into mechanical energy.
Clutch clutch is mechanism which is used to connect and disconnect the engine with road wheels.
Gear box It enables the driver to vary the torque as well as speed ratio.
Propeller Shaft this is a long tubular shaft use to transmit the power from gear box to differential when they are situated apart.
Differential function of differential is to transmit relative motions between the wheels and while taking turns or cornering.
Axle Axle are used either to support or to transmit the power to wheels.
Suspensions function of suspension is to absorb the road shock being transmit to motor vehicle.
Brakes brakes are used to stop or slow down the motor vehicle.
Wheels wheels provide grip to the road and absorb shocks caused by small road irregularities.
