ON A FORTHCOMING RECORD, THE DYNAMIC NASHVILLE SINGER SWATHES HIS LIMESTONE-AND-GRAVEL VOCALS IN HORNS AND STRINGS, EXPANDING ON A SOUTHERN SOUL SOUND.”

Anderson East’s new song, “King For A Day,” premiered yesterday at NPR Music. Watch the song’s official music video HERE. Of the song, NPR Music’s Ann Powers praises, “…exemplifies what’s most exciting about Encore. East carefully lays down his vocal lines, going from tender to urgent, as the horns and Chris Stapleton’s guitar form a double helix around them. The particular rhythms of Southern soul—aggression tempered by a commitment to staying in the pocket—are ideally realized, conveying the song’s message that love is always worth it, no matter how long it lasts.”

Written by East along with Chris Stapleton and Morgane Stapleton, “King For A Day” is the second song unveiled from East’s highly anticipated new album, Encore, out January 12 on Low Country Sound/Elektra Records (pre-order). Both “King For A Day” and the album’s first single, “All On My Mind” (which is currently Top 10 and climbing at radio), are available as instant downloads with each digital pre-order.

Already receiving widespread notice, East recently performed “All On My Mind” on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Additionally, East is currently featured as a SiriusXM “Spectrum Certified” artist. Previous artists featured in the music discovery series include Hozier, Kaleo, Leon Bridges and Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.

In celebration of the new album, East will embark on his largest headline tour to date, “Encore World Tour 2018.” The extensive run will span throughout next year including two sold-out shows at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley as well as stops at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom and Music Hall of Williamsburg, Atlanta’s Terminal West, L.A.’s El Rey Theatre, San Francisco’s The Fillmore and D.C.’s 9:30 Club among many others. Tickets are now on-sale. See below for complete details.

Encore was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb and recorded at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio along with additional production at House of Blues and Farmland Studio. The album features eleven songs, including “All On My Mind” (written by Ed Sheeran, Johnny McDaid, East and Aaron Raitiere), “King For A Day” (written by East, Chris Stapleton and Morgane Stapleton), “Girlfriend” (written by East, Cobb, Raitiere and Tim Bergling) as well as renditions of songs by Ted Hawkins and Willie Nelson.

The release of Encore culminates a breakout series of years for East following his widely praised debut album, Delilah, which NPR Music called “an eclectic, fully formed debut…” Additional critical praise included The Wall Street Journal who described, “…highlighted by Mr. East’s raw and raspy vocals and a backing band that channels the urgent rhythms and gospel-flavored sounds of ‘60s R&B and Southern soul music,” while American Songwriter asserted, “New artist debuts don’t come with much more industry buzz than the first release from singer/songwriter Anderson East…For better or worse, that sets expectations higher than those of most new artists. Thankfully, East meets them in 10 tracks and 33 minutes.”

In addition to “Ellen” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” East has previously performed on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” “CBS This Morning Saturday” and Daryl Hall’s “Live from Daryl’s House” and has lent his talents to several notable projects. He’s been featured on Dave Cobb’s Southern Family compilation, contributed a song to Brandi Carlile’s Cover Stories LP and crafted the original song “What Would It Take” for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack.
