Andrew Currier, of Chesterville, a senior at Mt. Blue High School, who has achieved 103 career wins in wrestling. We congratulate Andrew on his accomplishment and send him our best wishes; (HLS 972)

Elaine Allen, of Strong, who was selected as the Maine Mother of the Year by the Maine Chapter of American Mothers Inc. Mrs. Allen is the proud mother of 6 children. She has 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Allen earned her LPN degree in 1972 and her RN degree in 1992. She worked for Franklin Hospital, for a home for severe and profoundly retarded children and for Home Health, specializing in pediatrics. She retired from her nursing career in 2003 as a MDS Coordinator for nursing homes. Mrs. Allen will represent Maine at the National Convention in New York City in April, 2010. We extend our congratulations to Mrs. Allen on her being named the Maine Mother of the Year and we send her our best wishes; (HLS 973)

Seth Webber, of New Vineyard, who earned the gold medal for pipe welding at the Associated Builders and Contractors Craft Championship in San Diego, California. Mr. Webber represented Cianbro, a Maine industrial construction company, and competed with other participants in chapter-sponsored and company-sponsored craft training programs from throughout the nation. We congratulate Seth Webber on his receiving this high honor and send him our best wishes; (HLS 974)

Holly Gould, of Wilton, who coaches cheering at Mt. Blue High School and who was named the 2010 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A East Cheering Coach of the Year. We extend our congratulations and best wishes to Coach Gould on her receiving this well-deserved award; (HLS 975)

Cyndi Pratt, of New Sharon, the Assistant Athletic Director and Field Hockey and Softball coach at the University of Maine at Farmington, who was inducted into the Maine Field Hockey Hall of Fame. Ms. Pratt was honored for her performances as a player at Mount Blue High School and the University of New Hampshire. We extend our congratulations and best wishes to Ms. Pratt on her receiving this well-deserved honor; (HLS 976)

William Buzza, of Auburn, who was nominated for Maine Teacher of the Year. Mr. Buzza is a music teacher at Leavitt Area High School. We congratulate him on the honor of this nomination; (HLS 977)

Keegan Goan, a senior at Westbrook High School, who won the 100-Yard Butterfly Class A State Championship. We extend our congratulations to Keegan on this accomplishment; (HLS 978)

Derek Hawkes, a senior at Westbrook High School, who won the 500-Yard Freestyle New England Championship. We extend our congratulations to Derek on this accomplishment; (HLS 979)

Gary Theriault, of Chesterville, a senior at Mt. Blue High School, who has earned 121 career wins in wrestling. He also placed 4th at the Maine State Wrestling Championship. We congratulate Gary on his achieving these accomplishments and send him our best wishes; (HLS 980)

the Gagnon Family, whose reunion will be held in Madawaska in June 2010. In 1635, the brothers Mathurin, Pierre and Jean Gagnon and, in 1655, their cousin Robert Gagnon left Tourouvre and La Ventrouze, Perche, Basse-Normandie, France to settle in Quebec City and La Famille, l'Ile d'Orleans. By the 1700s, the Gagnon ancestors had settled in Riviere-Ouelle, Quebec and began migrating to other parts of the world, settling in the Madawaska area in 1831. The Gagnon descendants have distinguished themselves in a variety of public and private professions and in religious life. We extend our best wishes to the Gagnon Family as they celebrate and renew acquaintances and friendships; (HLS 981)

Emily Luce, of Carrabassett Valley, a senior at Mt. Abrams High School, who won first place in both the slalom and giant slalom competitions at the 2010 Class B Skiing Championship. We extend our congratulations and best wishes to her on her achievements; (HLS 983)

the Maine Warden Service, on the 130th Anniversary of its creation, March 9, 2010. In 1880, the 59th Maine State Legislature enacted legislation to expand the duties of previous Commissioners of Fisheries to include enforcement of all matters pertaining to game as well as fisheries, creating the position of State Game Warden as we know it today. The Maine Warden Service was given the task of protecting our fish and wildlife resources and given the responsibility of conducting search and rescue missions for persons lost in Maine's woods and on Maine's inland waters. There have been significant changes in the Maine Warden Service over the years, but the one thing that has remained constant is the commitment and dedication to the job by those who serve as game wardens. We recognize the Maine Warden Service on this anniversary and we extend our appreciation to the past and present members of the Service for their efforts in protecting Maine's precious resources; (HLS 984)

Seth Thomas Whitmer, of East Millinocket, a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 56, who has attained the high rank and distinction of Eagle Scout. This is the highest award in Boy Scouting and is given for excellence in skills development, leadership, personal growth and community service. For his Eagle service project, Seth refurbished the old memorial park in East Millinocket. He installed 2 picnic tables, relocated some flowers, painted the benches, placed trash cans for returns and trash, painted the cement slabs and put new plant pots with flowers on the slabs. We extend our congratulations to him on this achievement; (HLS 985)

Amanda Huntley, of Trescott Township, a student at Lubec High School, who is the recipient of a 2010 Maine Principal's Award from the Maine Principals' Association. The award is given in acknowledgement of a high school senior's academic excellence and citizenship. We extend our congratulations to Amanda and send her our best wishes for continued success; (HLS 986)

Bruce P. Trott, of Eliot, who was a prominent member of his community. Mr. Trott was raised in Augusta and was a graduate of Cony Free High School. He attended Portland Junior College before joining the United States Naval Reserve in 1951. Mr. Trott then worked for Central Maine Power Company and also shipped out as a merchant marine for Saucony Oil Company. He attended the University of Maine's engineering program and graduated in 1962. Mr. Trott served as a selectman and on many town boards, including the zoning and planning boards. For 40 years he was a member of the Eliot Fire Department and he also worked with the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts. Mr. Trott was a life member of the Free Masons Augusta Lodge and active on the Republican State Committee. We acknowledge his dedication to his community and to the State. the Falmouth High School Real World Design Challenge team for winning aeronautical design top honors in the Maine competition. The team, made up of 6 juniors coached by Andrew Njaa, John Kraljic and Chris Morin, with the assistance of local engineers, will represent Maine at the national Real World Design Challenge in Washington, D.C. We extend our congratulations and best wishes to them on this achievement; (HLS 988)

Andrew Njaa and John Kraljic, teachers at Falmouth High School, who received the National Science Teachers' Association $10,000 Toyota Tapestry grant. This grant will enable the teachers to buy a Bandolero race car and convert it to an electric-powered race car as part of a class they will team teach. We congratulate Mr. Njaa and Mr. Kraljic on their receiving this important grant and send them our best wishes; (HLS 989)

Gabe Hoffman-Johnson, of Falmouth, who received the Maine Sunday Telegram Most Valuable Player award. Gabe is a senior at Falmouth High School and plays forward and midfielder for the boys soccer team. This season Gabe helped the soccer team win its 3rd Class B State Championship. He earned All-American and All-New England honors for the second consecutive year. We extend our congratulations to Gabe on his receiving this award; (HLS 990)

David Halligan, of Falmouth, who has been named 2009 High School Coach of the Year for the New England region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Mr. Halligan was one of 8 coaches honored nationally in the association's large school division. He is the coach for the Falmouth High School Boys Soccer Team. He has completed his 23rd season at Falmouth High School. His teams have won 8 state titles, including 3 of the last 4 state Class B titles. We extend our congratulations to Mr. Halligan on his receiving this honor; (HLS 991)

the Falmouth High School Boys Indoor Track Team, which won the 2010 Class B Indoor Track State Championship. We congratulate the team on its achievement and we send the members our best wishes; (HLS 992)

the Falmouth High School Science Bowl team for its victory at the Regional Science Bowl, held at the University of Southern Maine on February 27, 2010. The championship team will represent Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire at the National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C. Rebecca Robertson, of Livermore and Scarborough, on the celebration of her 100th birthday, March 18, 2010. Mrs.

Robertson attended Leavitt Institute High School and Nasson College. She was a therapeutic dietitian for 40 years. She was president of the Women of Rotary and the Business and Professional Club of Portland and a member of the Woodfords Women's Club. Normand Angers, of Lewiston, for his contributions to the Franco-American community of Maine. Mr. Angers volunteers countless hours to the Maine Franco-American Genealogical Society in Lewiston, and has helped many people at the center learn about their genealogy. the Honorable Severin Beliveau, of Hallowell, a former member of the Maine State Legislature and a prominent attorney, on his induction into the Franco-American Hall of Fame. Mr. Beliveau is known throughout the State for his significant contributions to not only Franco-American culture but to public issues, environmental projects and international trade. Born in Rumford to a distinguished family of Maine lawyers and judges, Mr. Beliveau has a long and dedicated history of civic involvement and is the recipient of numerous professional awards. Since 1991, he has been the French Consular Agent from the State of Maine and is the recipient of the French Legion of Honor Award, the highest distinction France awards civilians, for his leadership on key projects to improve the relationship between Maine and France. We acknowledge Mr. Beliveau's commitment to francophone culture and to the State of Maine. We congratulate him on his well-deserved induction into the Franco-American Hall of Fame; (HLS 997)

Jean Francois Dionne, of Grand Isle, on his induction into the Franco-American Hall of Fame. Mr. Dionne joined the Association des Dionnes d'Amerique in 1987 and took part in organizing the first Dionne reunion on Ile d'Orleans in Quebec, commemorating the 350th anniversary of the arrival of Antoine Dionne, his wife Catherine Ivory and their son Andre. He also contributed to the promotion, growth and organization of the association's membership in the United States, his contributions making the 1990 Riviere-du-Loup/Kamouraska reunion a great success. Mr. Dionne is a talented singer and has taken part in many French concerts in the United States and Canada. He is the first Franco-American recipient of the prestigious Prix Meritas. We congratulate Mr. Dionne on his being inducted into the Franco-American Hall of Fame; (HLS 998)

Annette Lebel Daigle, of Fort Kent, on her induction into the Franco-American Hall of Fame. Mrs. Daigle has been very active in her community and committed to her French heritage. She and her husband Bert raised their 3 children with strong Franco-American values and to speak French. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions. She is the recent past president of the Fort Kent Historical Society and the recipient of the Acadian Achievement Award from the Maine Acadian Heritage Council. Mrs. Daigle has received the Member of the Year Award from Fort Kent Business and Professional Women and has served for 10 years on the Aroostook Area Agency on Aging board. She is strongly involved in her church and was named Mother of the Year by the Ladies of Sainte Anne in 2001. She is a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and past president of the Northern Maine Medical Center Guild. We acknowledge Mrs. Daigle's service to her community and to the State of Maine, and we congratulate her on her induction into the Franco-American Hall of Fame; (HLS 999)

Fernand and Dora Bosse, of Madawaska, on the occasion of their 60th Wedding Anniversary, May 10, 2010. Mr. Bosse, a native of St. Agatha, and Mrs. Bosse, a native of Edmundston, New Brunswick, were married in Madawaska and made their home there. The parents of 6 children, they have 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Bosse is a diligent fund-raiser for charitable organizations and actively involved in the Catholic church. Mr. Bosse was a volunteer firefighter for 40 years and is retired from Fraser Papers, after working for 42 years. Mrs. Bosse is a 52-year member of the Order of the Daughters of Isabella, works for others in their homes and helps in fund-raising for charitable organizations. They are both active members of the community. We join the family and friends of Fernand and Dora Bosse and the community of Madawaska in congratulating them on their Diamond Wedding Anniversary, and we send them our best wishes; (HLS 1000)

Laurianne Murphy, of Lewiston, who has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 2010 Prudential Spirit of Community Award. The prestigious award, presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities. Laurianne, an 8th-grade student at Lewiston Middle School, spent most of her free time last summer helping to take care of babies and toddlers in the childcare center of her local YMCA after she completed a YMCA babysitting course and became certified as a babysitter. We extend our congratulations to Laurianne on her receiving this honor, we commend her for her selfless work and community spirit and we extend our best wishes to her for her continued success; (HLS 1002)

Carlton G. Brandt, of Columbia, South Carolina and formerly of Hodgdon, a longtime educator. Mr. Brandt taught in Hodgdon, Maine for 36 years, retired and returned to teaching at Irmo High School and Orangeburg High School in South Carolina. Mr. Brandt loved working with young people and served as waterfront director at Camp Caribou in Waterville. He will be greatly missed and long remembered by his loving wife of 43 years, Carolee, his family, his friends and those whose lives he touched; (IN MEMORIAM) (HLS 1006)

Brian J. Rowe, of Moxie Gore Township, who died while in the line of duty responding to a snowmobile accident with the West Forks Fire Department. Mr. Rowe was born and raised in Bath, and was a graduate of Morse High School. He joined the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War. After working for the forest service and Bath Iron Works, Mr. Rowe became a deputy sheriff for the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Department. Mr. Rowe then served on the Woolwich Fire Department for 19 years. For the past 12 years, he was a member of the West Forks Fire Department, serving as chief for the last 3 years. He was very active in his community and was a Master Maine Guide. We acknowledge his dedication to his profession and to the State of Maine. Phillip Edward Allen, of Standish. Mr. Allen was born in Everett, Massachusetts and was a 1965 graduate of Cheverus High School in Portland and a 1969 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy. He served in the Merchant Marine for 3 years and, in 1972, started working for his father's wholesale florist business. Mr. Allen and his brother later bought the business and operated it until 2008. Mr. Allen was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed and long remembered by his loving wife, Cheryl, his family and his friends; (IN MEMORIAM) (HLS 1008)

the Honorable Norman Kenneth Ferguson, Jr., of Hanover, our esteemed colleague and friend, who served many years in local, county and state government. Senator Ferguson was a member of the Maine State Legislature during the 117th through 120th legislative sessions. He spent many hours on the slopes of Black Mountain and assisted with officiating numerous Nordic ski racing events. He was also active in St. Andrew's Society activities and enjoyed attending highland games. Senator Ferguson was known for his honesty, trustworthiness and professionalism and for being a hard worker. We acknowledge his dedicated and exemplary service to the people of his community and to the State of Maine. the following members of the Fort Fairfield High School Girls Basketball Team, who won the Class D State Championship: Brooke Beaulieu, Emily Blaisdell, Courtney Churchill, Sydney Churchill, Amanda Hotham, Kelly McGillan, Courtney Morgan, Rebekah Pelkey, Dani Shaw, Danielle Tracy, Kelsey Turner, Kelsie Wilson and Kacie York, coach Larry Gardner and managers Aleesha Campbell and Keegan Watt. The team finished its season with a record of 21 wins and only one loss. This is the team's first Class D State Championship title. Alys Parsons, of Andover, who recently celebrated her 98th birthday with many of her friends and neighbors in town, as the oldest citizen of Andover. She is the recipient of a Boston Post Cane and the former owner and operator of Lakewood Camps on Richardson Lake. We extend our congratulations to Mrs. Parsons on her birthday and send her our best wishes; (HLS 1011)

Lynda McLean Macalino, of Millinocket, beloved wife and mother. Mrs. Macalino was president of local Chapter 2652 of AARP and president of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 4154 for 2 years and secretary for 20 years. Ronald D. Wing, of Industry, a longtime resident and dairy farmer. Mr. Wing was educated in schools in Lancaster, New Hampshire, Industry and Farmington. He married Betty Morse in 1954 and together they began farming and managing land in Industry, eventually operating one of the largest dairy farms in the area. The Lazy W Farm is a local landmark and in 2008 earned the Outstanding Conservation Cooperation Award. In 2009, the farm was named the State of Maine Conservation Farm of the Year. Mr. Wing was very involved and active in the community, served as a selectman and was an Industry Planning Board member. We acknowledge his dedicated commitment to his community and to the State. Michele S. Holyoke, of Brewer, who will represent Maine as a nominee to the USA Today All-USA Community College Academic Team, a merit award that honors students for what they have accomplished during their community college careers. The USA Today All-USA Community College Academic Team is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, USA Today and the American Association of Community Colleges. Michele, a student at Eastern Maine Community College pursuing degrees in Business Management and Medical Transcription, will represent the State of Maine along with 11 other students in the Maine Community College System in hopes of being one of 20 full-time undergraduates named to the team, representing all outstanding community college students. We extend our congratulations to Michele on this outstanding accomplishment and offer her our best wishes for her continued success; (HLS 1014)

William Buzza, of Auburn, who was nominated for Teacher of the Year in Maine. He is among 5 semi-finalists, chosen from an original pool of 13 nominees. The Teacher of the Year Award program is coordinated by the Maine Department of Education and is supported by the Maine Board of Education and the Maine State Teacher of the Year Association. Mr. Buzza is a music teacher and the Visual & Performing Arts Coordinator at Leavitt Area High School. He has been teaching for 17 years, all of them within MSAD #52, and has worked in his current position at Leavitt Area High School for the past twelve years. The principal notes that Mr. Buzza provides the consummate role model for his peers and describes him as a collaborative, positive and committed problem solver. He is passionate about the arts and his students reap the benefits on a daily basis. We extend our congratulations to Mr. Buzza on this tremendous achievement and wish him continued success in all of his future endeavors; (HLS 1015)

Theodore Kryzak, of Acton, who was named the 2010 Maine Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the Year. Mr. Kryzak is the owner and operator of Riverside School and has an extensive background in vocational education, including 19 years as an instructor. On his 160-acre elk farm, he uses a curriculum that incorporates both agriculture and aquaculture. The special-needs students at the farm feed and care for the animals while also participating in the production of maple syrup and raising
