Socio-technical approach avoids a purely technological approach to information systems. This approach stress the need to optimize the performance of the system as a whole where both the technical and behavioral components needs attention, which means that the technology must be changed and designed in such away as to fit organizational and individual needs meanwhile organization and individual must also be changed through training, learning and planned organizational change in order to allow the technology to operate and prosper.
