RÉSUMÉ

The thesis focuses on depiction of female characters in Agatha Christie's work. The main aim is to examine their personalities and find out if there exists any ideal prototype of independent conservative woman according to Christie, and if it develops throughout her work.

The first part of the thesis including first three chapters examines her political views, opinions and the author’s life. It focuses on her attitudes towards social roles and social change taking place in the time of her most creative period. The third chapter deals with the question if the characters possess any stereotypes or distinctive attributes, according to which we could divide the female protagonists into a few general categories.

The second part consisting of the remaining chapters focuses on analysis of particular female protagonists from selected detective novels of Agatha Christie. There are two novels picked from each period of her work: from the early novels to the latest published ones. The analysis is focused on the personalities and their attributes rather than on the plot.

První část práce zahrnující první tři kapitoly zkoumá autorčini politické názory, postoje a její život.
