Justin Griffith

Height: 5-11

Weight: 232

Position: FB

College: Mississippi State

Drafted: Pick 24 of the 4th round by Atlanta
Analysis
Positives: Has a stout, solid looking frame with good balance and adequate speed...Shows natural knee bend and good body control to sink and uncoil as a blocker...Has enough speed to run off tackle, doing a nice job of reading blocks while staying at a low pad level to gain tough yardage through traffic...Has soft, natural hands to pluck and snatch the ball away from the body's frame...Runs precise routes and is especially effective lining up in the slot...Always seeking a defender to hit as a lead blocker...Has the power to dominate vs. inside linebackers running through the rush lanes...Runs with the ball secure, lowering his head and keeping shoulders square to break arm tackles.
Negatives: Does not show explosion coming out of his stance, needing to gather himself before gaining top speed...Takes more of a roll-over step to get to his point of mesh... While he can dominate as a blocker, he needs to sustain better (too many glancing blows)...2001 neck surgery, while not career threatening, needs further evaluation...Needs to take better blocking angles in attempts to pick up the blitz (tends to stop his feet at the point of attack).
