AB - ABSTRACT: The primary apical development, ontogeny, and other characteristics of ten turritellid taxa (including two new subspecies, Turritella rivurbana mexicana Allison, and T. rivurbana chiapasensis Allison) are discussed and are tentatively included in the T. rina group. Representatives of the group are known from middle to late Eocene of North and South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Mexico, Panama, Colombia and Peru. Members of the Turritella rina group are closely paralleled in adult ('cingulate') appearance by two subspecies of Torcula, a genus here considered a derivative of the above group: Torcula martinensis martinensis (Dall) from Florida (Oligocene) and T. martinensis henkeri Adegoke, n. subsp., from middle to late Eocene of Columbia.

AB - ABSTRACT: The recent availability of multiple flight coverage from eastern Panama and northwestern Colombia has provided sufficient data for a semiquantitative look-direction analysis in which detection of certain geologic features under a variety of terrane conditions has been examined. The features selected for the study are faults, joint systems and dip slopes. Comparing the flight coverage with that of areas of the United States which have multiple pass coverage, it is apparent that look-direction does influence detectability of certain geologic features. Depending on relative topographic relief, effective incidence angle, and look-direction, geologic features can be advantageously enhanced or completely suppressed. Maximum data retrieval from radar geologic reconnaissance in poorly mapped areas necessitates imaging the specific region from 4 orthogonal look-directions.

AB - ABSTRACT: Radar imagery of about 17,000 sq km in eastern Panama and northwestern Colombia provides geologic data for an area where investigations have been limited by inaccessibility and perpetual cloud cover. Objectives of the study were to determine radar utility in geologic map compilation, define and analyze radar-linears and infer nature of tectonic forces responsible for local structures, examine effect of radar-look direction and determine a possible directional dependency factor with radar systems, and evaluate potential of radar as a single reconnaissance tool in a tropical environment. A ready subdivision can be made between igneous and sedimentary rocks; large-scale structures can be synoptically studied; and relative stratigraphic sequence can be determined if lithic units are topographically expressed. With field data used in conjunction with radar imagery, resultant information far exceeds data previously available.

AB - ABSTRACT: The Endako deposit, 100 miles west of Prince George, B.C., in the composite Jurassic Topley Intrusions, occurs in older Endako quartz monzonite bounded by other igneous bodies. The orebody is an elongated ellipse, striking N 70 degrees W, and dipping 20 degrees -50 degrees south. In the vicinity, the quartz monzonite is intruded by pre-mineral aplite, porphyritic granite, and quartz-feldspar porphyry, and post-mineral basalt dikes. Mineralogy consists of quartz, molybdenite, pyrite, magnetite, and calcite. Hydrothermal alteration has locally produced K-feldspar, and quartz-sericite-pyrite envelopes, and has kaolinized the host rock. The orebody, a restricted stockwork formed on an elongated east-west dome by uplift and intrusion and localized at the intersection of regional east-west and northwest fault systems, is classified as a low-grade porphyry-type deposit.
