Cargo and ballast pump spaces are to be equipped with mechanical ventilation systems of extraction type capable of at least 20 changes of air per hour.
The air intakes and outlets are to be located as far away from each other as possible to prevent recirculation of dangerous cargo vapours.
The air intakes and outlets are to be located at a horizontal distance of at least 3 metres from openings of accommodation areas, service and machinery spaces, control stations and other spaces outside the cargo area.
The height of the air intakes and outlets above the weather deck shall be at least 3 metres.
