In other words, the steering
committee is the Board of Director of the quality circle activities.
The Steering Committee –
• takes an overview of the operation of quality circles in the organization as a whole. On the basis of reports from the coordinator
and the facilitators, problem areas are identified and remedial action suggested.
• takes decisions on important recommendations of quality circles falling outside the competence of other levels of management which are reported to the steering committee.
• gives major policy guidelines and directions for the healthy propagation of the concept.
• sanctions major programmes and financial support to give thrust to the promotion
of the quality circles • attends management presentations and get together
• meets regularly once in two to three months are convened by the coordinator.
