Research Questions
i How does the knowledge of the waste hierarchy guideline influence the attitude of waste prevention from source ii. Can the non-separation of waste from source or the non-containerization of household solid waste result in indiscriminate dumping in drainages and public places iii. Are residents willing to learn how to separate waste from source, if given the opportunity iv. How much are residents willing to pay for separate waste bins for different waste categories

Aim and Objectives
This research will critically assess the source separation of household solid waste in Alimosho Local Government Area to ascertain if there is a system in place that prevents loss of vital waste resources. To achieve the above, the following objectives would be pursued i. Extensively review relevant literatures on the subject ii. Assess the knowledge of residents on the waste hierarchy guideline through a questionnaire survey. iii. Investigate the categories of waste generated by households in the study area and how they carryout disposal. iv. Find out if residents in the study area understand source separation of household waste v. Visit the waste management regulator in Lagos to understand the city’s requirement for source separation.
