is to criticize him or her, suggesting alack of trustworthiness. They don’t hate them, they’re not overly fond of them either. They just regard them with suspicion. People are not really shocked when the government is caught lying.
On the other hand, they would be very shocked indeed if it was discovered that the government was doing anything definitely illegal. The first rule of politics is Never Believe Anything Until It’s Been Officially Denied. In Britain, it is generally accepted that politics is a dirty business. A hung parliament, something we basically have in the Netherlands always. There is the government and the parliament. The government runs the country. Has responsibility for developing and implanting policy and for drafting laws. It is also known as the executive. The parliament is the highest legislative authority in the UK. It has responsibility of government and examining debating and approving new laws. Also known as the legislature.
