(e.g. nylon twine for nets palm fronds for traps Construction of simple fishing gears (e.g.
cast net, gill net, hook, pole Basic maintenance of fishing gear and craft

Students to bring to class different materials used in constructing fishing gears. Invite a resource person to demonstrate construction and repair of fishing gears to students. Students to discuss the merits and demerits of using various fishing gear. Students to discuss the particular gear used to catch certain fishes, e.g. long- line for tunas, trawlers for demersal fishes.
