Modesty Blaise, the tough and enigmatic character created by Peter O'Donnell, made her international debut on May 13, 1963 in a newspaper strip story illustrated by Jim Holdaway. On Jim Holdaway's sudden death in 1970 the artwork was taken up by Enric Badia Romero. In 1978 John Burns drew the strip for a year then Pat Wright for nine months. In May 1980 the fifth artist was introduced, Neville Colvin, who produced over 1500 strips. Colvin retired in 1986 and Romero continued again until the very last strip in 2001. This marvelous catalogue showcases over 160 original artworks reproduced here in the finest detail. Each individual scan of the original art shown in this book was carefully taken to optimise its reproduction on the printed page and to retain the look and feel of the artist's detailed pen (STK651051) (C: 0-1-1)

HiT: pen & ink #1
(W) Bryce Carlson (A/CA) Vanesa R. Del Rey
WHY WE LOVE IT
After the first two Pen & Ink books focused on Brian Stelfreeze and Humberto Ramos, we wanted to shine the light on one of our new discoveries, the vastly talented and Russ Manning “Most Promising Newcomer” Award-nominated Vanesa R. Del Rey (The Empty Man, Zero). This edition takes a closer look at her beautifully horrific artwork on Hit, her comics debut.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT
Our Pen& Ink line is catnip for process junkies and for folks who just love “making of” stuff. This volume collects issues #1-2 of the Hit miniseries, presenting Vanesa’s original line work at the true art board dimensions of 11” x 17”, complete with creative, behind-the-scenes commentary from both Vanesa and writer Bryce Carlson.

MeMeTiC #1 (of 3)
(W) Jamestynion Iv (A/CA) Eryk Donovan
WHY WE LOVE IT
After launching James tynion iv’s THe wooDSto much acclaim, we were eager to see what other ideas he had. When James—one of our favorite new voices in comics—pitched us MeMeTiCas a tale of the apocalypse in three parts, we were sold!
WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT
Memetic is truly an event comic—three oversized 48-page issues detailing the end of the world over the course of three days, and a wholly unique take on the disaster genre. Much like his work on The Woods, James Tynion IV and fantastic newcomer Eryk Donovan (The House in the Wall)will bring horror to a whole new generation and fans of J-horror films like Uzumaki and The Ring.
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
A meme is an idea that starts with an individual, and then spreads throughout multiple persons and potentially entire societies. Richard Dawkins suggests a meme’s success comes from its effectiveness to the host. But history shows that destructive memes can spread just as rapidly through society. Memetic shows the progression of a weaponized meme that leads to the utter annihilation of the human race within 72 hours. The root of this apocalypse is a single image on the internet. A “meme” in the popular sense; a meme that changes everything.
