1720 1978 Australia Post Official Mail envelope used from Proserpine (6 Jun) to Sydney with framed "Postmaster/Proserpine, Q.4800" in purple, inside the remnants of a cover sent to same addressee & PO typed note "Australia Post Regrets that the article herewith is delivered/to you in a damaged condition/such damage was incurred when the Airlie Beach Post Office/was destroyed by fire on the night of 15/5/78". The first example of mail we have seen from this catastrophe. $150 $200

1726 Priority Paid Mail: Collection (un-mounted) with 48 covers 1977-92 all diff with Priority Paid labels & with various cds & "Clock Cachets" in black, blue, magenta etc, some with additional instructional markings inc "Delayed due to Airline Failure", "Posted Incorrectly or Too Late" & "Underpaid" etc. Also selection of PO documents pertaining to this service. Excellent basis for expansion into an exhibition collection. "Overnight Australia Post Courier" label in blue attached to large oversize Official Mail envelope with "Australia Post Courier/Canberra" cds at UR. Plus 3 official documents pertaining to this very rare short-lived service. Certified Mail: Official "Department of Foreign Affairs" Postage Paid envelope with pre-printed "Certified Mail/DFA 11" label in green VF UN. Used to despatch passports from Passport Offices. 1739 Postmarks: Numeral collection in thick 48-pg s/book with 310 diff nos 1-2028 inc 75, 76, 420 (RRR), 424, 512 (RR), 540, 600, 1068 (RRR), 1180, 1224 (RRRR), 1253, 1321 (RR), 1405 (RR), 1474, 1805 (RRR) & 2028 (RRR), plus duplex, variations inc 865 (type 4da, name at base) & 1230 (RRR). CDS cancels (165 diff towns) to 1912 in "numerical order" inc Tarcutta, Carcoar, Tumberumba, Jones Island, Croki R.R., Laurieton, Whitton, Ganmain, Bellambi, Ben Bullen, Millers Point, White Cliffs & Boolaroo. "Time Studies" for Newcastle (18) & West Maitland (7) plus Broken Hill rubber oval h/s in violet. Generally F-VF strikes, with the cds mainly clear part impressions (as always on these small stamps) with comp cds on piece scattered throughout. (1240) $550 $850

1741 Postmarks: Numeral & cds collection to around 1912 in thick Davo 64-pg s/book with 280 diff numerals to 999 inc 76, 136 (blue), 240, 249, 270, 255, 383, 444, 449, 503, 512, 565, 670, 888, 895, 926, 940 & 987. 1st type duplexes (name at base) 55, 865 & 914. These all quite scarce. CDS (130 diff) arranged in numerical order inc Time Studies for Newcastle (19) & West Maitland (13). Then Tamworth "Registered Oval" (2 part strikes), Burrowa, Murrurundi, Mulwala, Castlereagh, Jones Island, Bowna, Carinda, Laurieton & Tingha. Duplication through inc duplex variations, rays/bars cancels & diff cds types. Mostly F-VF part to comp strikes. (1300+) $550 $850

1742 Postmarks: Numeral collection crammed into 10 hagners with over 500 diff from Nos 1-2086. Hard to assess, but sighted 2063, 2001, 1878, 1779, 1711, 1697, 1659, 1668 & 1667, just to mention some of the scarcer high numbers. Good starter collection with minimal duplication & earlier nos seen on issues from the 1860s onwards. $600 $1000

1743 Postmarks: PO Centenary covers (60) 1975-83 inc Darby's Falls, Rankin's Springs, Blackville, Yarras, Tichborne, Rockyglen, Tanja & Curban. Last-Day covers (1978 PO closures) for Rock Flat, Mossgiel, Tingira Heights (1966-78 only), Red Range, St John's Park & Corroba. (66) $100 $150
