Despite the project’s focus as a proof of concept, a handheld system designed for humidity sensor visualization (Gunnarsson et al., 2006) demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of real time, handheld AR visualization. Again, by using visual ARToolkit tracking sensor values could be positioned on top of the user’s viewport. The use of interpolation of sensor data (however small scale) was used to indicate the approximate values for surrounding areas (Figure 5), a differential with the previous systems displaying only individual values, despite all systems showing individual data values over distributed areas.
