Zeno is dedicated to building a sustainable math culture by partnering with schools and community organizations to create an engaging math environment where kids, teachers and parents work together to help all kids succeed in math. Zeno serves partners in Western Washington, primarily those in Seattle and Puget Sound. The organization began in 2003, when parents in the Lake Washington School District were compelled to share the success of a math program their children enjoyed. Those parents convinced their PTA to sponsor a similar math program in two underprivileged Seattle schools and Zeno was born. Since then, Zeno has worked with over 50 schools and community organizations, to teach others how to instill a love for math and to inspire a sense of empowerment in using math, especially for kids underexposed to the possibilities of their own math power. What does that look like? It's a parent or caregiver learning how to showcase and play with math in the home; it's a teacher providing after-school activities that are so unexpectedly fun that math becomes an extracurricular treat. It's working together with our community to build brighter academic futures for kids and help them discover they are Math Powered.
