Situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea in between Malta and Gozo, Comino is the smallest island in the Maltese archipelago with only a handful of permanent inhabitants. Featuring sheer limestone cliffs along a coastline peppered with deep caves, the island used to be a favourite hideout for pirates and marauders in the middle ages. Today, the island is a bird sanctuary and nature reserve that boasts enchanting natural bays, which makes it a popular destination for day trippers. Your tour begins by boarding a motorboat straight off the ship and continues with a relaxing trip on the water. A light snack will be served on the boat to all guests participating in the tour. The abundant beauty of the scenery is certainly worth a snapshot, so do bring your camera. The tour ends with your return to the ship.

Transfer to south-east Malta to discover the island’s megalithic temples which are classed as UNESCO World Heritage Site and which are older than the pyramids. The tour continues to Marsaxlokk Bay, Malta’s second largest natural bay where you can admire the brightly-coloured “Luzzus” fishing boats which, in keeping with sea-faring tradition, have a pair of eyes painted on the bow.

This excursion takes you on a guided tour around the north of the island. You will stop at the Red Tower in Ghadira Bay, Mellieha, from where you can admire the view out over the islands of Gozo and Comino. Drive through the countryside and travel off road to Golden Sands Bay. Continue to Mtalheb, stopping for photos and to Mdina before returning to the ship.
