The wonderful Russian city of St. Petersburg is replete with historical buildings as far as the eye can see, one of which is the gold-hued Yusupov Palace on the banks of the River Moika, one of the waterways on which the great city is situated. Also called the Moika Palace, the gorgeous building was once the primary home of the House of Yusupov and the site of Grigori Rasputin’s grisly murder in 1916. First constructed c. 1770 by a French architect, the palace was later worked on by several other notable architects and now features a variety of architectural styles. The palace is an impressive reflection of the wealth and power wielded by the Russian Empire. Due to its many waterways, St. Petersburg has earned itself the title of the “Venice of the North” and the final leg of your tour will see you board a pleasure boast for a scenic cruise, with more views of splendid riverside houses and villas to enjoy as you go – so do bring your camera to take some photos to show the folks at home. The tour comes to a close with your return to the pier and your ship.
