What Happened…
Mayaben used to live with her husband and child. When she got married they were happy with their life and their income but one day a tragedy has occur and her husband got a victim of a paralysis. And after that she is facing lot of hardships. Therefore, behind their treatment she sold out all ornaments whatever she has. After this tragedy, it was very difficult to survive in society in very limited income. So, it was also difficult to pay school fees of her son which is 7200 Rs. per year. After that she met school Principal and they agreed to appoint as maid at their home on 2500 Rs. salary per month. It helps to her little bit survive in the society but it is not helpful for medication and school fees. Due to low standard of living it was so difficult to fulfill the basic needs. Somewhere she heard something about Baroda Citizens Council and its services.
When Baroda Citizens Council came to Rescue……
She contacted Mr. Ashok Patel which is from BCC staff. They explained her about BCC and its different assistance and they have conducted an interview at BCC office. In interview, she told them about her and her family background also about the whole situation. BCC convinced and agreed to help her in paying school fees.
BCC helped a lot to a family facing lot of hardships. Truly, she believes that she got school fees from BCC and it helps her lot for supporting her son in education. She feel blessed her that she got this kind of services from BCC. Definitely it helps her in nature of finance. This kind of assistance will help her for medication and savings because her wish is that she would like to see her son in life independent and successful. Finally she is very much thankful to Baroda Citizens Council and United Way of Baroda such as they are helping those children who are really needy and unable to survive in society.
Successful Case Study:- Urban
By the reference of an old student’s parent Dhiraj Patil was given help under the project SAVERA. Dhiraj is a bright boy studying in 4th std in Vidyut Board Vidyalaya. His parents are living with HIV/AIDS. His parents used to sell vegetables but due to their ill health and deteriorating strength they discontinued the vegetable selling business. Currently his father is working in D-Mart and earning a fixed income of Rs.5000/-, and his mother is a housewife. They are on ART medicine since last many months as a part of HIV/AIDS treatment. Though Dhiraj is tested negative for HIV he faces a lot of problems due to his parent’s ill health. He is the only son and so he hasn’t the support of any sibling. The child is excellent in studies and also active in co-curricular activities of the school. Thus the New Savera project at BCC with the support of United Way of Baroda, staff and volunteers has been able to identify such kids and families who need financial support for their education.
