5. MUST BE POPULAR AND MARKETABLE WITHIN THE COMMUNITY
The essence of culturing fish is for consumption and sale, where there is an embargo placed by the community where the aquaculture is being practiced, it will prevent the sales of the fish, therefore, culturable fish species must be popular and acceptable by the whole community without putting any law against the consumption of such species.
6. LOW COST OF PRODUCTION
For Aquaculturist to have dividend for his production, there is a need for the cost of production to be relatively low so that his products will not be too expensive for his customers. Therefore, the culturable fish species must have low cost of production so that the selling price will be minimal for the customers to afford.
7. Easy to breed in captivity The ability offish to breed in captivity either naturally or artificially is also essential. This is because, the fish fingerlings that are used for production will be readily available anytime the Aquaculturist would like to plan for another production session.
