The Red Ball Express was a supply delivery system made up of mostly African American truck drivers and mechanics that brought important supplies to the American army in Europe during World War II. Each day, nearly 6,000 trucks carried more than 12,000 tons of desperately needed supplies such as ammunition, food, and fuel to the battle lines.
