Originally written for off-Broadway by Lanie Roberston in 1987, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grilltells Holiday's life story through the songs that made her famous, including "God Bless the Child," "What a Little Moonlight Can Do," "Strange Fruit" and "Taint Nobody's Biz-ness." Directed by Lonny Price, who also directed the Broadway production.

Very good capture, filmed in 16:9 with mostly mediums and close-ups, and a few wides here and there and shot fairly close to the stage so the picture is extra clear and steady with no washout; a couple heads that can be seen at the bottom of the screen occasionally, but they never block the action and a couple of very quick dropouts in the first three minutes; excellent sound.
