The purpose of this letter is to respond to your request for reconsideration of materials in the media center collection. Following the procedure prescribed in Cobb County School System Administrative Rule IJK, the (name of School) Media Committee was convened on (date) to review the book, (name of book), by (name of author). How to Weed
The Do’s:
• Do know your district policy for discarding
• Do remove library identifying marks
• Do trade books in good condition to another library or used book dealer
• Do donate books in good condition to charitable organizations
• Do sell books in good condition to the public or a used book dealer
• Do recycle materials that cannot be traded, donated, or sold
• Do weed regularly to avoid discarding large amounts of materials at one time
The Don’ts:
• Don’t dump large amounts of discarded materials in the dumpster
• Don’t sell, donate, or trade books that are outdated or in very poor condition
• Don’t store weeded materials to keep from throwing them out
• Don’t dump weeded materials onto classroom teachers
