1. Abeyance - a state of temporary disuse or suspension (inactivity, dormancy)(action,
continuation) - The construction project was put in abeyance due to unforeseen budget constraints. During this period of delay, the project team explored alternative funding options to resume work. Abject - very low inspirit or hope (forlorn, wretched)(proud, excited) - After losing his job and facing financial ruin, he found himself in an abject state of despair and hopelessness. At Least he always had his cat to cheer him up. Carte blanche - complete freedom to act as one wishes or thinks best. (authority, free rain)(employee, limited) - The author was given carte blanche by the publisher to write the book in whatever style and tone he deemed best, allowing for complete creative freedom. With this in mind he sat down to write the first chapter with gusto. Craven - contemptibly lacking in courage cowardly. (fearful, gutless) (bold, brave) - His
craven refusal to confront the issue head-on only exacerbated the problems within the team. Which only led to further frustration among his colleagues. Effrontery - behavior that is bold, rude, or disrespectful. (arrogance, backtalk)(modesty,
respect) - His effrontery in questioning the CEO's decisions during the board meeting left everyone in shock. It was considered highly inappropriate to challenge the company's leader in such a public setting.

6. Paradigm - a standard, perspective, or set of ideas. (archetype, model) (unique, rare) -The discovery of DNA's double helix structure revolutionized the field of genetics,
becoming a paradigm shift in our understanding of heredity and molecular biology. It also led the way for many other new discoveries. Prattle - talk at length in a foolish or inconsequential way. (jabbering, blubbering)
(muteness, listening) - Me and my sister always walk home together. Today she wouldn't stop prattling on and on about her school friends. Recapitulate - to retell or restate briefly (summarize, outline) (refrain, overact) - To ensure everyone understood the main points of the presentation, the speaker asked if they could recapitulate the key findings and conclusions at the end. Unfortunately the recapitulation lasted twenty minutes. Sanguine - cheerful and confident that things will happen in the way you want them to
(positive, upbeat) (pessimistic, gloomy) - Despite the challenges they faced, the team remained sanguine about the project's success. They believe in their abilities to overcome any obstacles that came their way. Suffuse - gradually spread through or over. (saturate, steep)(dry, close) - As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky began to suffuse with hues of pink and orange, creating a breathtaking sunset. It was so beautiful that I could barely look away
