Types of Democracy
There are two types of democracy namely:
Direct or Classical Democracy: This was a type of democracy practiced in the ancient Greek city-states of Athens and Sparta in which the people directly ruled, mad and implemented policies of government.

Indirect/Representative or Modern Democracy: This is a type of democracy in which elected representatives are chosen by the citizens to govern on their behalf and according to the wishes of the people. It is this type of democracy that is being operated in modern states because a modern state is far too large in population and geographical area and because the citizens of modern state are too busy to devote their whole time to political affairs alone.
