John Flynn Placement ProgramThe JFPP enables undergraduate Medical Students, and Graduate Entry Students to undertake a placement in a rural or remote community for a minimum of 2 weeks each year, generally over a 4 year period. Medical students work closely with a GP mentor and the host community to develop a better understanding of the challenges and rewards associated with rural practice and non-metropolitan health care services. This program is administered by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) on behalf of the Government. The JFPP covers the cost of travel and accommodation for students to go on placement and ACRRM provides assistance with these arrangements. In addition to this students are paid $500 per week to cover food and living expenses during the placement. Applicants must be Australian citizens or Permanent Residents and enrolled in one in an accredited medical course at one of 20 participating Universities. Some scholarships apply to any program of study; some are applicable to specific courses or campuses. Students wishing to apply for a La Trobe Scholarship, must list La Trobe University among their VTAC preferences. Some merit scholarships include:
Open to CSP students who will join an elite program for high achieving students who are passionate about learning, and who want to work with other high achieving students by asking questions and finding answers. The Hallmark program gives students the opportunity to join a team of ground-breaking researchers; be mentored by a world-class researcher and participate in real research projects that address the big issues. All successful applicants to the Hallmark Program will receive a Hallmark Program Scholarship valued at $10,500, paid over 4 years (the normal duration of a course, including Honours). This Scholarship Program is available to full-time CSP students commencing the Bachelor of Civil Engineering course, or one of the Engineering double degree courses, at the Bendigo campus of La Trobe University. This scholarship – valued at $5,000 per year – is renewable on a yearly basis, subject to satisfactory academic and professional performance. Other benefits include fully-paid vacation work experience during each year of the course ($6000 per year, approximate), and access to career mentoring advice from CPG Australia Pty Ltd Engineers.
This scholarship is available to outstanding CSP students, who enrol full-time in any undergraduate degree within the Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering. This scholarship is valued at $6000.
This scholarship is available for outstanding female CSP students who are enrolling in an undergraduate computer science or computer engineering course. This scholarship is valued at $6000.
Valued at $2,000 - $3,000 p.a. for each year of study, plus personal mentoring by an academic and/or industry sponsor. Applicants must enrol in a program leading to a major study in a discipline of the School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (SEMS) at the Melbourne or Bendigo campus of La Trobe University.
Ten scholarships are available each year for eligible CSP students commencing in undergraduate courses offered by the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering. These one-year scholarships are valued at $6000. A minimum ATAR of 90 is expected.
This scholarship is available to CSP students who attain an ATAR of 90.00+ and demonstrate high achievement in their chosen sport. Students should be currently competing at state, national or international level in their chosen sport. This scholarship is valued at $10,000 for one year. Applications open on 24 September 2015 and close on 28 November 2015.
