Meteorologist Activity A meteorologist is a scientist who studies and communicates the weather. Choose any state/Capital from the Coastal Plain Region and construct a 5 day forecast model. Use a 5 day forecast for any 5 consecutive days PRIOR to today’s date! Below is a sample, along with pictures you may use in your poster.
Extension: Plan a cookout and invite 5 friends. Explain the best day for the cookout based on the weather data. Name that State 2 State Flag Foldable Choose any 5 states from the Coastal Plain Region and design a foldable with a picture of the flag and a description/explanation. Be creative!! Example: Virginia State Flag A deep blue field contains the seal of Virginia with the Latin motto " Sic Semper Tyrannis" - "Thus Always to Tyrants". Adopted in 1776. The two figures are acting out the meaning of the motto. Both are dressed as warriors. The woman, Virtue, represents Virginia. The man holding a scourge and chain shows that he is a tyrant.  It’s been more than two years since BP’s Deepwater Horizon rig blew up in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 people and unleashing the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history. More than 200 million gallons of oil fouled the ocean and Gulf coastlines, while the Center for Biological Diversity began decisive action to expose illegal activities and lax offshore drilling regulation. A Center study shows that more than 82,000 birds; about 6,000 sea turtles; nearly 26,000 marine mammals, including dolphins; and an unknown, massive number of fish and invertebrates may have been harmed by the spill and its aftermath. The spill oiled more than 1,000 miles of shoreline. More than 2 million gallons of toxic dispersants were sprayed into the Gulf, which may be making waters more toxic for species.
