Application Guidelines for the Alternative Route to the Register of Clinical Supervisors

The Alternative Route Application Form requires demonstration, completion and evidence of the following:

1. 
   Applicants must be an ADMP UK Registered Private Practitioner before submitting an application to become an ADMP Registered Clinical Supervisor.
   

2. 
   Applicants must have completed a recognised non-DMP clinical supervisory training course, (see 4, below), of a minimum of ninety hours containing the elements:
   

1. 
   Current clinical supervision literature: models, skills and research
   

2. 
   Ethical and legal issues in supervision
   

3. 
   Supervision contracts, boundaries and documentation
   

4. 
   Identify and evaluate issues in the therapist-client and supervisor-therapist-client relationship
   

5. 
   Social, political, cultural and economic issues which potentially impact dynamically on practice.
   

6. 
   Dynamics in individual and group supervision

   The course should also involve:
   

1. 
   Probationary supervision practice, minimum fifteen hours, at least twelve of these must be face-to-face. If necessary three of the hours, non-consecutively, may be by Skype. This must be face to face and may not include Skype/phone supervision.
   
2. 
   Each hour of probationary practice must be matched with one hour of individual clinical supervision on the probationary practice. The suitably qualified supervisor can be external to the course.
   
3. 
   The DMP supervision of probationary supervision practice should normally be face to face, however, in exceptional circumstances, Skype supervision of supervision may be used for no more than 20% of sessions.
   

4. 
   Completed an ADMP approved module on specific DMP skills and body awareness in clinical supervision of fifteen hours. This should contain:
   

1. 
   Models for engaging the body and dance movement within supervision.
   

2. 
   Bodily engagement with movement observation.
   

3. 
   DMP and neuroscientific research.
   

4. 
   Somatic counter/transference.
   

5. 
   Ethical dimensions of somatic engagement.
   

Council very strongly recommends that all applicants complete a further two years of personal therapy, post qualification. ADMP encourages the course to encourage students to continue personal therapy.

5. 
   Process of application:
   

Applications, after being checked by the administrator, will be processed by the Professional Development Committee.

1. 
   Produce proof of successful completion of their course
   

2. 
   Provide a breakdown of the syllabus of their course which shows that the training meets all the elements listed 2 & 3 above.
   

3. 
   Provide a certificate showing that they have successfully completed a separate, specific DMP clinical supervision module to be provided by ADMP.
   

4. 
   Submit their CPD and supervised clinical practice logs for previous 3 years.
   

5. 
   Provide a statement of support from their supervisor.
   

6. 
   Pay a fee of £125
   

7. 
   If an interview is necessary, there may be additional costs to be negotiated, depending on the location and support necessary.
