Atlanta Ballet Nutcracker 2015 Auditions

Centre students, levels BII – C, with several years of classical ballet training are encouraged to audition

to become a part of the wonder and excitement surrounding Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker

at the Fabulous Fox Theatre December 11th – December 28th.

AUDITION DRESS CODE:

Girls: Centre Uniform Leotard, tights and ballet shoes with hair pulled back in neat bun, NO jewelry

Boys: AB Uniform t-shirt, tights or shorts, ballet shoes
REGISTRATION & AUDITION SCHEDULE:

Centre Student Auditions

(Students currently enrolled in levels BII / BIII / BIV / C at the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education)


NUCTRACKER Registered Centre Students Only

1:00 Registration for Party Children (BIII/BIV/C)

2:00-4:30 Party Children Audition (BIII/BIV/C)

3:30 Registration for Mice/Snow Fairies (BII/BIII)

4:30-5:30 Mice/Snow Fairies Audition (BII/BIII)

Open Auditions

(For experienced gymnast with dance experience, no taller than 5’3’’)

Saturday ~ September 12th


5:00 Registration for Nesting Dolls

5:30-6:00 Nesting Dolls Audition
Registration:

  • You do not need to put your child's name on a list in order to attend the audition.

  • Please complete the 2015 Audition Form upon arrival at audition. Student will then receive Audition Number.

  • Please refer to the audition schedule for times.


Audition:

  • We cannot guarantee roles to all students who audition.

  • Children must be enrolled in levels BII, BIII, BIV, or C by the date of the audition in order to be considered for participation.

  • Parents MUST remain in the lobby on the audition day.

  • Auditions will not be observed.

  • Results of audition will be emailed within three days of the audition



ROLES AVAILABLE THROUGH AUDITION:

Child MUST be of specified level by audition date
Party Children: Levels BIII / BIV / C - Height Requirement 4'3"-5'3"

Snow Fairies: Levels BII/BIII - Height Requirement 4'3"-5'1"

Mice: Levels BII/BIII - Height Requirement 4'2"-4'7"

Mice will wear full-faced masks. Children with asthma should not audition for this role.

Nesting Dolls: Ages 8-14; Height Requirement 4'2"-5'3"

Accomplished gymnasts with dance experience should be well-trained and capable of performing back handsprings and possibly aerials & layouts.



Open Auditions at Michael C. Carlos Dance Centre

    • Saturday, September 12th, 2015

    • Registration at 5:00pm

    • Audition 5:30-6:00pm



IMPORTANT NUTRACKER INFORMATION:

  • All selected dancers will be divided into several casts on Saturday, September 26th.

  • There is a $150 non-refundable fee for participating in Nutcracker. This fee must be paid by October 3rd, or your child will be replaced with an alternate.

  • Three-hour long rehearsals for all casts begin on October 3rd, and will run all weekends through November including Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 25th, 27th, 28th ) with occasional late afternoon or early evening rehearsals in November. Thursday, Nov 26th is a holiday.

  • Your child must be able to commit to all rehearsals.

  • Rehearsals in the Fox Theater begin December 8th and performances run through December 28th. There will be NO excused absences. If you are aware that your child cannot make any of the posted rehearsals, please do not have him/her audition.

  • Performance dates at the Fox Theatre are December 11th – December 28th. There will be NO excused absences. If you are aware that your child cannot make any of the posted performances, please do not have them audition.

  • Photo Shoot date is October 18th. Times TBA.

  • Costume Fitting dates and times are TBA.

  • Further information regarding rehearsal times and schedules will be available after the audition and casting process is completed.

  • Each child will have a full rehearsal schedule distributed for October on Cast Organization Day.
