BankMuscat redefines mobile banking with ‘anytime, anywhere’ mBanking App. Go Mobile.
MUSCAT, 1 May 2012 – BankMuscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, has launched a state-of-the-art mobile banking application redefining banking with the concept of ‘anytime, anywhere’ service. His Excellency Ahmed bin Sulaiman bin Saleh Al Maimani, Under-Secretary of Financial, Administration and Regional Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, presided at the grand launch ceremony of mBanking attended by dignitaries, senior government and private sector officials.
With mBanking, BankMuscat has made banking truly mobile for the largest banking family in Oman who can now bank 24/7 ‘anytime, anywhere’. Notably, the mBanking application works on all mobile phones and is customised for iPhones, Blackberry, Android and Java based phones with simple icons and menus. The mBanking application is available in both English and Arabic.
His Excellency Ahmed bin Sulaiman bin Saleh Al Maimani congratulated BankMuscat on launching the innovative mBanking service. “The initiative of the Bank to provide banking services via mobile phones strengthens the government's efforts in creating a digital society and providing electronic services which spell convenience to customers.”

Customers having smart phone with GPRS or 3G connectivity can download free mobile application to enjoy the mBanking experience.


Downloading and using mBanking application is easy as no separate registration or filling of form is required for activating the mobile banking service. mBanking can be downloaded in many.

Iphone Users must download the application from the Apple Store. The Android phone users (high end phones of Samsung, HTC , Motorola etc) can also download the application from Android Stores.
Customers can also enjoy browser based mobile banking by visiting https://m.bankmuscat.com from their mobile phones.

The mBanking transactions include access to account to view balance and mini statement, transfer funds between BankMuscat accounts, pay bills, including credit card, utility, mobile top-up, school fee etc. Using mBanking, customers can also apply for BankMuscat products and view latest promotions, find nearest ATM / CDM and branches. They can also connect with the Bank on Facebook and Twitter.

The initiative marks yet another innovative service from BankMuscat, which over the years has developed services and products that spell convenience. The mBanking apps is expected to attract a large number of customers as it does away with the requirement to visit the Bank or wait in long queues at branches for various transactions. Driven by the latest technological features and offering a wide range of options, mBanking presents a unique facility from BankMuscat that lets customers bank at convenience from ‘anywhere, anytime’ For people constantly on the move, mBanking service will be a boon.”


mBanking can be accessed from any location that is supported by the telecom service provider and is highly secure as the application does not store any sensitive information or transaction logs on the phone. Robust security features have been built into the application. mBanking is a ‘trusted’ application. Data exchange from this application is encrypted based on best industry standards and dual factor authentication.
BankMuscat is providing mBanking application free of cost and the only cost that applies to customers is the network usage levied by telecom service providers. mBanking is user friendly. The interface is very simple and all that customers need to do is just follow the instructions to make a transaction.
The mBanking registration process is very simple. Customers are required to access "Registration for New User" option and input their ATM/Debit card number and the mobile number registered with the bank. They should also enter the activation code (OTP) which will be sent to their phone. After accepting the terms and conditions, customers are required to set up login details, including user ID and MPIN.
The registration is allowed only on the mobile number registered with the Bank. In case customers need to update the mobile number registered with the Bank, they can contact the Call Center on 24795555 or submit a written application to the Bank for the same.
The mBanking features include enquiries, bill payments, funds transfer, requests, apply for BankMuscat products and connect with BankMuscat.
The enquiries include checking the balance in current account and savings / fixed deposit / loan accounts / credit card account. Customers can also view last 10 transactions in current account and savings account, besides daily BankMuscat foreign exchange rates for selected currencies.
Utility bill payments can be made through mBanking. Customers can register and pay utility bills for water, electricity, mobile, landline and Internet, besides school fees and credit card payment.
The funds transfer facility is available between own accounts and third party accounts within BankMuscat.
The request facility can be used for creating a new Fixed Deposit, issuing new cheque book, report loss/theft of debit card and request for instant blocking of the same.
For additional security, customers can change mobile banking MPIN using the 'Change MPIN option'.
Customers can apply for BankMuscat products through mobile banking services. The products and services available for customers include accounts and deposits, loans and mortgages, insurance, credit card, Expat services. Customers can also specify the preferred time to be contacted by the Bank.

Facebook and Twitter. Queries on Facebook will be responded on a priority.


In case customers forget MPIN, they can access Forgot User ID / MPIN option which is provided on the home page and create new MPIN. In case they forget the user ID, they can access Forgot User ID option to activate new User ID. In case customers are locked out from BankMuscat Mobile Banking Application, they can call Phone banking on 2479 5555 to unlock the service. On loss of phones, customers can Phone Banking on 2479 5555 to deactivate subscription, and can activate the same service by following activation steps.

Customers can also use the “ATM / Branch locator” service to find the nearest BankMuscat ATM or Branch. Map facility is also available in Iphone, Android and BlackBerry devices.
