The Cyclotron Specialist will repair, calibrate, and maintain the cyclotron and related PET chemistry systems, as well as complex Imaging Equipment typically found in a Radiology or PET Facility. It also will coordinate installation of equipment or equipment components working with a variety of people include Mayo's medical staff. Physicists, design engineers, and vendors. The cyclotron Specialist will design and build or develop new solid target systems for PET radionuclide production; will design and build or develop automated equipment for new PET radiopharmaceutical production; will install and/or commission hardware modifications made by cyclotron manufacturer. The Cyclotron Specialist acquires, maintains and shares technical skills necessary to become and remain competent and proficient on the assigned equipment, as well as to train additional operators as needed.
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of an Associate's degree or a two-year degree from a technical school in electronics or similar military training. Candidates must also have five years’ experience providing maintenance support of complex electronic, RF electronics, and computer controlled equipment. The candidate must have 3 years’ experience in a PET facility providing service support for cyclotron and chemistry units.
