Getting to Know You More!
ACTIVITY 1.2
Have you ever experienced a life-threatening situation? Or did you have a troubling argument with others because of misunderstandings? How were you able to deal or escape from those threats and/or dangers? How did you defend yourself or your loved ones? If it’s not too much, share your experience! Answer in 5-10 sentences only.
Luckily, I have not experienced a life-threatening situation or a troubling argument with others but my grandmother has. My grandmother has wet and dry foods that she sells. The problem is that many of the shops next to her are jealous because almost everyone who goes to the market goes to my grandma. So, one day, the next store got angry and threatened her badly and even pointed a gun at my grandmother. And because we were afraid at the other store and had already pulled out a weapon, we immediately took action and we went to a lawyer to file a case against the next store. So, the case was filed and settled.

Dealing with threats and performing self-defense techniques require several skills, be it physical or practical, which could guarantee a successful performance and self-defense outcome. Identify at least 5 skills needed to perform self-defense techniques, and explain why do you think those skills are needed.

ACTIVITY 1.4

In a movie, TV series, or video clip that you have watched, identify a scene where there is a confrontation. Describe how the persons involved deal with the confrontation through these guide questions: what caused the confrontation? Are they able to resolve it? What are the good points of the conversation that they are able to resolve the confrontation? Or did they resort to fighting and violence? What could they have made to avoid fighting and violence? Answer in 5 to 10 sentences only.


Instead, the cop resorts to fighting while the mother of the guy enters the confrontation. But when the cop couldn’t stop his anger, the cop threatened the victims to shoot them, but the victims are shouting and praying that they hope it stops, but when the police could no longer control himself, he pulls out the gun and killed the guy and his mother. If the victim didn’t argue more with the cop, I guess there still be alive by now. Condolence to the family of the victim.

POINT TO PONDER:
In three valid sentences, explain the reason why discipline is an important consideration in self-defense and how do you practice it.
The way to control yourself and focus on your goals is to have the advantage of keeping yourself from danger and avoiding any fight, while you pursue your own goals. By doing that, pursuing your goals while keeping your discipline and strong will, will increase your self-confidence and allow your personality to develop.
