30th Infantry Division

&

117th, 119th & 120th Regiments

& Attached Units
The Command Posts of the 30th Division Hq’s and its three Regiments which are listed here, have been compiled from the Division and Regimental History books and conform to their actual locations as near as possible. Most all of the” Morning Reports” recording all of the specific locations, were destroyed in a tragic fire in 1973. In many cases, specific locations were not indicated in the History books, and some locations are identified only by personal memory. However, each list will give a very general route of the troops of that unit, and will identify the area where each Regiment was on any given day. Some additional data on the Field Artillery Battalions and Attached Units are included.

Note: The Combat History of the 119th Infantry Regiment, is not clear as to where its Regimental Hq. was located on a day to day basis. One needs to read the 119th History to determine location of Companies and Battalions and thus extrapolate where the Regimental Hq’s might have been located. All official records were destroyed in 1973.

Magdeburg 5/08/45 War Officially declared at an END!!
Nothing is written in the 119th Regimental History of its movement from Magdeburg to England, after the end of the war, but there is no doubt that it followed closely the route and times of the 117th & 120th Regiments and the Division Hq’s.
