Wireless Access for Conference Delegates

Username and Password


Below is your QUT conference username and password which allows you to access the Internet via QUT’s wireless network for the duration of your conference.

By using this username and password you are agreeing to QUT’s Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources policy listed on the next page. For a full version of the policy visit www.mopp.qut.edu.au/F/F_01_11.jsp




Getting Connected

Accessing the Internet

Use your mobile device’s wireless settings to make a connection to the “QUT” wireless network. Enter the QUT username and password provided and connect.



Alternatively connect to “eduroam” if your institution has made the service available at your institution.

If the “QUT” wireless or “eduroamconnection is not established, follow the steps below.



  1. Use your device’s wireless settings to make a connection to “QUT-Wireless”. Check that your wireless connection is enabled and you are in an area with wireless coverage.




  1. Start a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari) and go to any external (non-QUT) web site. You will be redirected to the web page displayed below.







  1. Click on the appropriate link for your operating system under Wireless User Guides. Download the appropriate PDF file and follow the instructions to connect to “QUT” wireless.
    The “QUT” wireless connection is secured and requires you to enter the provided QUT username and password.



  2. Check that your wireless connection to
    QUT” is established.



IMPORTANT: Always keep your password secure.
(Do not write it down or give it to anyone.)




  1. It is recommended that you change the provided QUT password before you access the Internet.



Please disregard if you have already changed your QUT password through https://access.qut.edu.au – otherwise continue with the steps below.



      1. Go to https://access.qut.edu.au

      2. Login using the username and password provided.

      3. Read the QUT Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources policy, then tick the
        I Acceptbox and click the Submit button.

      4. Follow the prompts to change your password.


Note: After successfully changing the password, expect to be prompted to enter the new password for the wireless connection.



  1. To access the Internet:




  1. Start a web browser and go to a non-QUT website (e.g. www.google.com.au).

  2. Enter the username and password then click the Login button.

Note: A pop-up window will automatically open on top of your browser, and the website you wish to visit will be displayed. You must leave this window open to maintain access to the Internet.




  1. Click the Logout button in the pop-up window to close your Internet session.

SCHEDULE 1 - ACCEPTABLE USE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES

QUT provides information facilities to its staff and students for its day-to-day operations. These include the desktop environment, network facilities, IT infrastructure, and access to the Internet.

QUT facilities may not be used for any purpose associated with the transmission, viewing or publication of pornography or other illicit or offensive material; personal commercial interests; soliciting donations for political parties or religious groups; publication of sites unrelated to University activities; personal observations using inappropriate or offensive language, or any unlawful purpose.

When users renew their access account passwords they are always reminded that the University monitors its information assets and carries out detailed security audits of systems and data as required. Network activity is logged and may be used to investigate faults, security breaches and inappropriate or unlawful use. The University reserves the right to access individual files.



There is a continuing need to be vigilant about the proper use of QUT facilities. Breaches of the Acceptable use of Information Technology Resources policy by staff, students or visitors may be treated as misconduct.
