Curriculum Vitae - Prof. Alberto Clò

Born on January 26 1947 in Bologna, where he lives. Married with two children. After graduating in Political Science from the University of Bologna with Professors Romano Prodi and Paolo Mengozzi, he was awarded a “Diploma of Merit" and an "Advanced Qualification" by the Enrico Mattei School. After experience in the research and planning department of Eni and Montedison he passed the public examination and began his university career in the Universities of Trento, Modena and Bologna. As Ordinary Professor of Applied Economics, he held courses in "Industrial Economics" (first degree) and "Public Service Economics" (master’s degree). He is the Editor of the Journal «Energia», founded in 1980 with Prof. Romano Prodi. He is a member of the scientific committee of national and international journals. He has collaborated with various research institutes including Eni Corporate University (of which he was Chairman of the Scientific Committee) and the Enciclopedia Treccani. He has published about a hundred essays and ten books in the fields of industrial economics and the economics of energy and the environment. He has collaborated and still collaborates with various newspapers and magazines. He was the Minister of Industry and interim Minister of Foreign Trade of the Italian (technocratic) Government of Mr Lamberto Dini (1995-1996) and he chaired the Council of Industry and Energy Ministers of the European Union during Italy’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. For his service as a Minister he was awarded the highest Honour of Cavaliere di Gran Croce al merito della Repubblica by the then President of the Republic of Italy, Mr Oscar Luigi Scalfaro. He was Chairman of the company SAB, which manages Bologna Airport (1998-2004), and has been a director of various companies, both non-listed (Selm-Edison, Cineteca di Bologna) and listed. Among the latter: Eni (representing the market, he was first a member of the Compensation Committee, later of the Control and Risk Committee), Finmeccanica, ASM Brescia (Control and Risk Committee), Iren (Control and Risk Committee), ltalcementi (Control and Risk Committee and Lead Independent Director). He is currently an independent director of Atlantia (Control and Risk Committee, Chairman of the Compensation Committee), Snam (Chairman of the Appointments Committee), De Longhi (Chairman of the Compensation Committee, Lead Independent Director).
