BROWN, Nannie May Rogers, 85, of Pulaski, departed this life on Monday, February 28, 2000 at her residence after a long illness. She was born January 17, 1915 in Pulaski, Va., daughter of the late Rev. J. H. Rogers and Mayme Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Isaac Brown, also five brothers and six sisters. She was a member of the Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church (formerly Clarks Chapel). She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted companion, Henry Lee Dyer of Pulaski; a devoted niece, Mamie H. Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2000 at the Randolph Ave. United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Swift officiating. Burial will be at Pinehurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Friends may call anytime at the home of Mrs. Mamie H. Marshall, 1639 Randolph Ave., Pulaski. Penn's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BROWN, Hattie Louise, 46, of 330 Gilmer Ave, Roanoke, departed this life on Saturday, December 8, 2001 at the Roanoke Community Hospital after a long illness. She was born May 29, 1956 in Allsonia, Va., daughter of the late Theodore and Frances Brown. She was a member of the former Rich Hill Baptist Church in Allsonia. She also attended the Pulaski County Public Schools. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Frances Brown and one sister, Janet Darlene Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Neal O. Brown, Mark O. Brown and Keith E. Riles, all of Roanoke; three grandchildren; five sisters, Pamiler (Edward) Meadows of Fairlawn, Va., Carolyn Thompson of Pulaski, Tammy (Eric) Williams, Daphine (Zahir) Asim and Diane (Willie) Williams, all of Roanoke; two brothers, James Theodore Brown of Savannah, Ga., David Lee Brown of Roanoke; a devoted friend, Tom Byrd of Roanoke and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Randolph Ave. United Methodist Church, Pulaski, Va., with the Rev. Leroy Henry officiating. Burial will be at the Pinehurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Randolph Ave. United Methodist Church. Penn's Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va., is in charge of arrangements.

BROWN, Virginia R., 81, of 487 Lake View Lane, Bassett, Va. (formerly of
Pulaski), died Monday, December 16, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of
Martinsville and Henry County. She was born on November 17, 1921, in Pulaski
County, a daughter of the late John P. Roseberry and the late Ida Emmaline
Roseberry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Herman F. Brown, Sr.; son, Roger Dale Brown; sister, Agnes T. Pike;
and brothers, Claude and Ernest Roseberry. She was a member of Mill Creek
Baptist Church in Henry, formerly an active member of Mt. Olivet United
Methodist Church in Pulaski, before moving to Henry County. Surviving are
three daughters, Brenda Roemer of Baltimore, Md., Mary Ann Ramsey and Diana
Bowden, both of Bassett; son, Herman F. Brown, Jr. of Fries, Va.; sister,
Dorothy Summers of Lexington, N.C.; two brothers, John M. Roseberry of
Denton, N.C. and Howard Roseberry of Lexington, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. The Graveside
service will be held Thursday, December 19, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Hufford
Cemetery on Mt. Olivet Road in Pulaski, Va. The family will receive friends
from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, prior to service, at Mt. Olivet United
Methodist Church, Pulaski. The family will receive friends Wednesday,
December 18, 2002, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Collins Funeral Chapel. Collins
Funeral Services, Bassett, is in charge of arrangements.

BROWN, Pauline Rushbrooke, 98, of Pearisburg, passed away Monday, December
16, 2002 in Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek, Va. Mrs. Brown was born
July 27, 1904 in Monroe County, W. Va. and was a daughter of the late Albert
and Sciota Mae Chambers Rushbrooke. Besides her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Charles J. Brown, one son C.W. Brown, an infant
daughter, seven sisters, Alleen O'Conner, Vera Whittaker, Myrtle Whittaker,
Laura Witt, Jessie Young, Louise Rushbrooke Spangler, Edith Page and five
brothers, Arthur E., Albert B., Joseph E., Garfield and Fred Rushbrooke.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Pearisburg Baptist Church for many years, was
a graduate of Concord College of Athens, W. Va. and was a former teacher and
she owned and operated a store in Oakvale, W. Va. for many years. She is
survived by two grandsons, Jerry and David Brown; one granddaughter, Renee
Caldron; and several nieces and nephews, including Harry R. and wife Sue
Spangler and Phillip Mack and wife Sarah Spangler, all of Peterstown; and a
sister-in-law, Bernice Rushbrooke of Forest, Va. Funeral services will be
conducted Thursday, December 19, 2002 at the Givens Funeral Chapel in
Pearisburg at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Todd Milsaps officiating. Burial to
follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W. Va. The family will
receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Thursday before the funeral from
12 to 2 p.m.

JOHN A. BRUNER
John Amos BRUNER, 77, died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. L. BYRD, near Dora furnace, following an illness of several months from heart trouble. Funeral services will be held this afternoon 3:00 o'clock from the home, followed by burial in the Dora cemetery.
Mr. BRUNER was a native of Hawkins county, Tenn., but had been a cotton mill worker at Fries for a number of years coming to Pulaski, to make his home with his daughter two years ago. He had been a member of the Methodist church for 30 years. he had been twice married, both wives being dead. Surviving are his children: Mrs. Nannie AUSTIN, Narrows; Mrs. J. L. BYRD, Pulaski; Mrs. Clara MABE, Fries; Mrs. Mary BOULDIN, High Point, N. C., and John H. BRUNER, Randolph, Va.

Jack Clayton Brunk, age 47 of 6221 Skyview Circle, Dublin passed away Saturday, June 21, 2003 at his home. Born Nov. 18, 1955 in Pulaski he was the son of Vance Clayton Brunk and Naomi Davis Brunk. His mother-in-law, Roberta Sparks and a sister-in-law, Linda Woodyard preceded him in death. He and his wife attended the Highland Park Community Church, Dublin. He worked for Lane Enterprises, Dublin with over 11 years of service. Surviving are: his wife, Deborah “Debbie” Sparks Brunk, Dublin; parents, Vance C. Brunk and Naomi Davis Brunk, Pulaski; daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Daniel Musick, Dublin; grandson, Zackary Wayne Musick, Dublin; son, Steven Wayne Brunk and special friend (Cindy Smith), Pulaski; sisters and brothers-in-law, Katherine A. and Ricky Roberts, Dublin; Dreama and Junior Reed, Pulaski; father-in-law, Kenneth Sparks, Pulaski; brother-in-law, Eddie Woodyard, Dublin; nieces, Kayla Roberts and Staci Woodyard; nephew, Travis Roberts; several aunts and uncles; special grandpuppy, “Duke”; special friends, Butch Keith and Darrell Sarver; special children, Matt and Amy Smith. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Highland Park Community Church, Dublin with the Rev. Michael Blouse officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite Blvd., Pulaski. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements.

BRYANT, NORA AGNES GUNTER, 78, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, December 29, 2001 at her home. She was born August 3, 1923 in Montgomery County to the late Nellie Sue and Robert McKinley Gunter, the second of eleven children. She lived in Huntington, W.Va. between 1949 and 1972, and she has lived in Christiansburg since then. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Robert McKinley Gunter, Jr. and sister, Gladys Jennelle. The greatest joy in her life was her husband of 53 years, Calvin Winn Bryant; her son, James Robert Bryant; her sisters and brothers and families, as well as several close neighbors, both here and in West Virginia. Survivors also include Josephine and Glenn Williams, Lillie Walker, Bobbie Gunter, Sonny R. and Lora Gunter, Paul L. and Sylvia Gunter, Jimmy W. and Carol Gunter, Jean and Frank Reynolds, and Ollie Sue and Floyd Morris. Many nieces and nephews also survive her. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2001 at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2001 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alexander W. Evans and the Rev. Richard Bethune officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the many expressions of love and kindness for all our family and friends, and the care provided by the Good Samaritan Hospice Team. BRYANT, Earlmah Irene Hall, 90 years young, went home Wednesday, March 19, 2003, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Lee; a brother, Carl Hall; sons-in-law, George E. Midkiff and Richard Aulden Kesling; and a grandson, Keith Midkiff. "Bryant" retired from St. Albans Hospital after 30 years of service where she was known by many as "momma." Left to share many beautiful memories are two daughters and son-in-law, Barbara M. and Harold Akers of Christiansburg, and Patricia Bryant Kesling of Radford; her one and only granddaughter and her husband, Deborah M. and Richard Myers of Christiansburg; grandsons and their spouses, George "Eddie" and Vickie Midkiff of Radford, Richard "Dickie" and Donna Kesling of Pulaski, Robert and Rosemary Kesling of Radford, Ken and Michelle Kesling of Pulaski, and Mrs. Keith (Barbara) Midkiff of Great Falls, Md.; stepgrandson and wife, David and Debbie Akers of Christiansburg; stepgranddaughter, Martha Lynn Akers of Purcellville, Va.; great-granddaughter and husband, Tracy and Brian Lytton of Radford; great-grandsons and their wives, G. E. and Amanda Midkiff of Radford, Nat and Cody Kesling of Pulaski, Jason and Heather Midkiff of Great Falls, Md. and Jonathan "Keith" Kesling of Radford; step-great-grandson, Tanner Akers of Christiansburg; great-great-granddaughter, Breanna Faith Lytton of Radford; great-great-grandsons, Jacob Brian Lytton of Radford and Tyler Jacob Midkiff of Great Falls, Md.; two brothers, Buren William Hall of Roanoke and Joseph Lawrence Smith of Melbourne, Fla.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins from Woolwine, Va., Roanoke, Va. and Melbourne, Fla. She will be especially missed by her beloved companion, "Blizzard." The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Conatser and his staff and the staff at NRVMC (1600's) and to all our close friends and extended families who have walked this journey with us. A celebration of her life will be held at First Christian Church on Saturday, March 22, 2003, at 11 a.m. with her special friend, Rev. Gina Rhea officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. Earlmah loved flowers, but in lieu of, you may make donations to First Christian Church, 400 Tyler Avenue, Radford, Va. or to Gentle Shepherd Hospice. R.W.BUCHANAN dead
J. Will Walker returned Saturday from Americus, Ga., where he was called on account of the illness and death of his brother-in-law the late R.W. BUCHANAN. His death occurred Tuesday night of last week, a message being received by Mrs. WALKER Monday advising her of his condition. Mr. Walker left immediately, but did not reach there until after his death, which was due to paralysis, followed by pneumonia.
The deceased was a native of Smyth county, having been born and reared near Marion. He located in the South and for a time he and Mr. WALKER were associated in the dairy business at Americus, the latter returning to Virginia several years ago. He was 58 years of age and leaves a widow and four children. He was prominent in Masonic and Odd Fellow circles and took an active interest in church work.

He was a surveyor with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) with 15 years of service. He was a graduate of Pulaski County High School Class of 1980. He attended Wytheville Community College. Surviving are parents, Garland Jay and Patsy Dean Bundy of Pulaski, grandmother, Mallie C. Dean of Pulaski; sister and brother-in-law, Jill and Rodney Beville of Pulaski; brother, Stephen J. Bundy of Pulaski; nephew, Ethan Beville of Pulaski; niece, Courtney Beville of Pulaski. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Thornsping Cemetery, Pulaski County with Dr. Randy Frye officiating. Visiting will be Saturday evening from Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the charity of one's choice. Youth Dies Of Blood Poisoning
Frank BURNETT passes away in Pulaski Hospital
Frank, nine-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. BURNETT, of Drapers Valley, died at one o’clock this morning at the Pulaski Hospital from blood poisoning, having been sick about a week. He was brought to the institution last Saturday in an irrational state and never rallied. The body was taken back to the family home on the F.H. Honaker farm, after preparation for burial and it is expected interment will take place this afternoon in the Oglesby graveyard, following a brief service at the home.
The boy is thought to have injured his left knee two weeks ago when he jumped from a window. However, he did not complain until about a week before his death, blood poisoning in the meantime having developed, and his condition would not respond to treatment. Besides his parents, he is survived by eight brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Pearl BURTON, 75, died this morning in a Marion hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Beulah SEXTON, Newbern and Mrs. Clara KRESS, Bassett; one son, Roy McCOY, Bassett; four sisters, Mrs. Gladys STEVENS, Narrows; Mrs. Verlia STEVENS, White Gate; Mrs. Martha Harman, Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Gracie CORNER, Dublin; four brothers, Oscar OREY, Spencer OREY and Johnnie OREY all of Narrows; and Stewart OREY, Beckley, W.Va.
The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from New Chapel Church of Wolf Creek, conducted by the Rev. E.H. Shaver. Burial will be in Boyd Cemetery, Giles County. The body will be removed from Strickler’s Funeral Home Saturday afternoon to the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Beulah SEXTON, at Newbern to remain until the hour of the service.
