Laboratories in the Department of Automobile Engineering are well equipped with latest equipments that can be used for research and consultancy work by the students, faculty and outside agencies.
ENGINE TESTING LABORATORY
It is equipped with stationary and automotive engines of different size and the engines are provided with loading and instrumentation facility. This laboratory is also provided with 4 Eddy current dynamometers of different capacity which facilitate to test the engine of any size which are manufactured in India. Heavy commercial vehicle engine test rig available in the laboratory is instrumented with pressure and needle lift sensors from which combustion analysis of any CI engine fuel can be tested accurately. Performance and emission study of an Automotive CRDI engine fuelled with diesel and biodiesel can be tested in the laboratory.
FUEL AND LUBRICANT LABORATORY
It is equipped with instruments which facilitate to measure physical and combustion properties of any automotive engine fuel as per ASTM standards.
AUTO MAINTENANCE LABORATORY
It has computerized wheel alignment test rig and Engine analyzer. With the help of computerized wheel alignment test rig steering geometry of all types of cars can be checked and corrected. It is also possible to diagnose the fault in the engine management system of latest vehicles fitted with MPFI and CRDI systems.
