Research Guidelines

It is important to know where the art of Ballet came from; it is the basis for most dance styles today. It will be your job to tell the story and development of ballet in a country other than the United States. Some suggestions are as follows:

  • British Ballet (1920 and today), the influence of Marie Rambert, Frederick Ashton, Antony Tudor, Ninette de Valois, Royal Academy of Dancing

  • You may also research ballet in Japan, China, Germany, etc.

Your research should always focus on the where, who, when, how, style. You may present your research in written form (2-3 pages in length typed 12pt. font double spaced), as a time line, in book form, video, PowerPoint, poster, you can be creative – have fun with this project, it’s not meant to be drudgery. If you have a different idea of how you would like to present your research – just ask me. If you are having difficulties – just ask me! This project is being handed in to me, you will not be presenting in front of the class.

The library at Eastridge High School has great dance resources in it – don’t wikipedia me information – I will check it and all school policies regarding plagiarism will apply. I expect quality work and I expect it to be handed in on time. I will not accept a project after the due date. You will receive a zero. Your project will account for 30% of your quarter grade and falls under the category of “Applied Practices/Journal Entries”.
