John Henry was born October 1, 1792 in North Carolina, moved to Gwinnett County, Georgia before 1820, then to Henry County, then to Dekalb County, and finally to Pontotoc County, Mississippi before 1850. He died July 3, 1874 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, and is buried in the Hoyle-Henry Cemetery in Union County, Mississippi. Bethenia Cornwell apparently went to Gwinnett County, Georgia by 1820, then to Henry, to Dekalb, and to Pontotoc, Mississippi before 1850. The children of John Henry and Bathenia Henry were:
