[6] PRONOUNS
These are words or groups of words that are used instead of nouns or to avoid unnecessary repetition of nouns in speech or writing. Examples are highlighted below :
1. Jesus loves children.
=> > HE loves THEM.
2. Workers look for money.
=>> THEY look for IT.
In most cases, pronouns are used in place of the following :
1. Phrases :
a. The little girl read all the story books.
=>>SHE read ALL.
b. Where is the food ?
=>>Where is it ?
2. Clauses
a. Nobody knows how this is solved.
=> Nobody knows it.
b. What he does is normal.
=>> IT is normal.
Pronouns can serve as subjects, objects and complements, and they are of various types.
