On This Day Andrey Rublev, a 17 year-old tennis phenomenon from Russia, was ranked 329th in the world for ATP Tennis. He entered the Barcelona Open hoping for a victory. What he got was a victory against the 2010 champion of that tournament, Fernando Verdasco. He will go on to face the 13th ranked player, Fabio Fognini.

Hockey The MLB’s worst ranked team, the New York Mets, was on a losing streak. They had no hope of becoming the best team in the National League. But one day, their luck changed. They won their first game. After that, they started winning game, after game, after game. “It was like a Cinderella Story that never struck midnight,” commented Herbert L. Sherbert. As the Mets keep their winning streak, their hitters are gaining more power, and the pitchers are throwing harder and more accurate. Although some people fear the Mets may lose to the best team in the American League, the Detroit Tigers, the Mets keep a positive attitude. We interviewed Matt Harvey, the starting pitcher for the Mets. He said, “The biggest thing we have to work on is our attitude. We can beat the tigers and win the World Series if we keep a positive attitude.
