Directory Assistance and Operator Services
DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE SERVICE
GENERAL
The Telephone Company provides for Directory Assistance Service whereby customers may request assistance in determining telephone numbers.
REGULATIONS
The rates set forth following apply when customers request assistance in determining telephone numbers of customers who are located in the same local service area or who are located in the same area code (NPA) within the State of Virginia.
A customer is allowed One free dialed Directory Assistance Service call per access line per month. Service for Customer - provided Coin Operated Telephones, Interexchange Carrier Coinless Telephone Service are not allowed monthly call allowances.

3. Direct dialed Directory Assistance Service calls are calls dialed by the customer and completed without the assistance of an operator. The services of an operator are not to be used in connection with the completing of direct dialed Directory Assistance Service calls except in the following cases:
To reach the called Directory Assistance Service number where direct dialing facilities are not available.
To reach the called Directory Assistance Service number when attempts by the customer to direct dial such a call cannot be completed.
To only record the originating telephone number when automatic recording equipment fails to function properly.
Call allowances are not transferable between separate accounts of the same customer.

5. Charges for Directory Assistance Service are not applicable to calls to the Directory Assistance Service attendant placed from Semipublic Coin Telephone Services, Public Coin Telephone Services, or to calls to the Directory Assistance Service attendant from telephones where the customer, and in the case of residence service where the customer or a member of the customer's household, has been affirmed in writing as unable to use a Telephone Company provided directory because of a visual, physical or reading handicap.

OPERATOR SERVICES
GENERAL
The Telephone Company provides for customers to use Operator Services to assist in placing local calls.
REGULATIONS
Local message charges for calls placed through an operator will be charged the same as for local calls dialed direct
by the customer.
Local message charges will not be billed to a Public
Telephone service, Semi-public Telephone service or
COCOT service. Operator assistance will not be
furnished for calls placed from a COCOT telephone.
Operator Assistance charges do not apply for the following calls:
calls to listed official public emergency agencies
calls to official Telephone Company numbers
calls to Directory Assistance
calls from persons experiencing dialing difficulty
calls from persons who are visually and/or physically disabled
Operator service Calling Card denotes a billing
arrangement by which a call may be charged to an
authorized Telephone Company calling card number.
A Collect Call denotes a billing arrangement by which the charge for a call may be reversed providing the charge is accepted at the called line. A collect call may be
billed to a calling card or third party number. In case
of calls to coin telephones the charges must be billed to
a calling card or third party number, or the call may be
re-originated from the called lines. (N)

OPERATOR SERVICES (Cont.)
A Billed to Third Number call demotes a billing
arrangement by which a call may be charged to an
authorized line as determined by the Company other than
the line originating the call or the line where the call
is completed.
Person-to-person is that service where the person
originating the call specifies to the Telephone Company operator a particular person to be reached, or a
particular station line, department or office to be
reached through a branch exchange or Centrex attendant.
RATES
The following charges are in addition to any charges for
local messages as specified in this tariff.
