GREAT: Graduate Research Engagement in Advanced Technology

ASURE – the off-campus component of ASU’s Security & Defense Systems Initiative – is accepting applications for the GREAT Program. This program allows highly-qualified students to work on applied research and advanced technology development programs with research scientists and engineers at ASURE’s facilities in Scottsdale, about three miles from the Tempe campus. GREAT students get real-world experience in a small-company setting developing state-of-the-art solutions to problems in national security and defense for customers in government and industry. Key focus areas include but are not limited to:



GREAT students work an average of 10-15 hours per week at ASURE during the academic year and during the summer term. They remain fully enrolled in their graduate program, and can have the opportunity to become full-time employees at ASURE upon completion of their MS/MSE or PhD degree. Employees can take advantage of the ASURE tuition benefit to obtain a PhD degree while working at ASURE.
Stipend:

$5000/term stipend; approximately equivalent to $24/hour.


Eligibility:

Graduate students (MS/MSE or PhD) or accelerated (4+1) undergraduate students in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, informatics, mathematics and statistics, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have exceptional demonstrated analytical problem solving abilities and strong communication skills, and must be eligible to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Applications are accepted at any time, but must be received by March 31 for summer term (May 15 – August 15) positions in the GREAT program at ASURE.
