Hello and good day

Hello and good day, I’m Queroben Dapitan Ortiz from grade 11 - STEM 1…

This video is my task for module 11 in practical research 1…

For today’s video, we will talk about paraphrasing. And I’ll explain how to paraphrase in 5 easy steps…

So, without being said let us begin…

NAME / GRADE / SECTION / TASK / SUBJ

First, let us define paraphrase…

“according to Merriam-webster, paraphrase is a restatement of a text, passage, or work giving the meaning in another form” …

It means a paraphrase is the act of rewriting a specific passage from someone else. It is written in your own words, without changing the original meaning or removing any information…

Now that we already know the meaning of paraphrase, let us proceed to the next part of our video which is the 5 steps in paraphrasing…

For the 1st step… take time to read…

Read the passage several times to fully understand the meaning.

Careful reading of the text enables you to grasp the meaning of the sentence you are going to paraphrase…

Next, step number 2… take note of the key points…

It means, while we are reading, we just need to note down the key concepts. This is done through highlighting or listing the points or ideas presented in the text that you are reading…

Then, the step 3… rewrite what you have read but use your own words…

The 3rd step means we should write our own version of the text without looking at the original. Rewriting what you have read does not mean you will just copy it. Instead, you are going to write what you have read based from what you understood. But you need to be careful not to eliminate the ideas of what you have paraphrased

For the 4th step… compare what you have written with the original text.

Compare your paraphrased with the original one and if you find phrases too similar, make changes. However, the thought presented in the original text must not be different from the paraphrased text.

And lastly, step number 5… Make citation…

Cite the source of the text. We can use in text citation for this step.

So that’s the 5 steps in paraphrasing. We just need to keep in mind that we can use synonyms in rewriting the sentences. Also, in paraphrasing, we can change the structure of the sentences, in that way, we can break up a long sentence into shorter sentence and also combine short sentences into longer one.

So, that’s the end of my video for my task in module 11. Once again, this has been Queroben Ortiz from Grade 11 STEM 1. Wishing you all a good day.
